An annual event since 1972, World Environment Day , is dedicated to stimulate global awareness of the environment. The United Nations stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment and enhances action through the Day, commemorated every year on June 5.Through this commemoration, the day aims to give a human face to environmental issues, and empower people to become active agents of sustainable and equitable development, besides promoting an understanding that communities are pivotal to changing attitudes towards environmental issues.The host for World Environment Day 2012 is the Federation Republic of Brazil.
