The Kerala State Education Department has decided to introduce a system of five-day working week for higher secondary school students from 2014-15 academic year, scheduled to begin on July 1, 2014. This will be done by excluding Saturdays from working days.
The proposal for a reduced working week was put forward by the Labba Commision Report last year. The P.O.J. Labba Committee was constituted to study the problems faced by the state's higher secondary education sector.
The Education department decided to implement this recommendations by slightly extending the school hours. From the existing schedule of 9.30 AM to 4.15 PM, it has been changed to 9 AM to 4.45 PM.
Reforming the curriculum was another major recommendation made by the Labba Commission report. Click the below link for government order & new schedule, Labba Commission Report etc:-.

ReplyDeleteThis is a very good movement for both the students and staff of Higher Secondary. If this affect the conveyance facilities in the remote places slight adjustment to be imposed in the time schedule without affecting the working time.Any way my hearty congrats to Education minister and Higher Secondary Direcorate. ReplyDeleteSir,
ReplyDeleteMost of the higher secondary schools are now working from 8.30 am to 5 pm, due to the extra classes or remedial classes which teachers are forced to do. These classes will move to saturday, Anyway students will not get any relief from this. Only some teachers, handling easy subjects or languages will get rest. But, i should congratulate those behind this achievement, last 15 years prayer !
