After the Corona pandemic period, the educational institutions are to resume gradually to offline classroom transactional mode from 1st November 2021. Guidelines regarding the reopening of schools in the state is ready now.
There are 47lakh of students from 13,000 high schools, 2077 Higher Secondary schools and 389 Vocational Higher Secondary schools. The reopening arrangements are being done with the coordination of Local Self Government Departments, Health Department, KSRTC etc.
What are the Guidelines for Schools?
Prior to this, district collectors would convene a meeting. School level meeting including PTA would be there for the public to express their opinion in connection with opening of schools.
All those working in schools and involved in school related activities would be vaccinated and special arrangements for this is on the move. Also, an online awareness campaigns are planned for the parents.
The students will be able to attend classes in schools only with the consent of the parents. They should avoid offline classes even if there are mild symptoms. Cleanliness drives are to be done in all schools in the state. The government is on discussion with teacher associations regarding class timings and arrangements. All programmes leading to the congregation of the students will be avoided. Seating arrangement is planned as accommodating only two students in each bench.
How Can Schools Prepare and Respond to a Pandemic?
The classes are scheduled for the forenoon session only and the afternoon sessions are for online classes. Uniform is not mandatory for attending classes. It is the duty of the teachers to keep vigil on students that they don’t group together and maintain social distance.
Moreover, due to the present situation, mid-day meal scheme students will be provided with allowance instead.
Facility for fitness certificate to school buses also will be arranged. The number of students traveling in auto rickshaws to school also is limited to two. School officials will note the body temperature and oxygen level of each student as it is a cautious measure for ensuring safety of each student.
