Education is the key to empowerment and progress, but many individuals from Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities face challenges due to a lack of adequate study facilities at home. Recognizing this obstacle, the government has taken a commendable step by offering financial assistance to members of the SC community to establish study rooms adjacent to their houses. 

This initiative aims to create an environment conducive to learning, allowing students to unlock their full academic potential. Under this program, SC students studying in classes 5 to 12 in various types of schools, including Government, government-aided, special, technical, and central schools, are eligible to apply. 

This initiative represents a significant expansion of the existing Padanamuri program, which previously commenced from the 8th class onwards. 

Key Details 

• Application Deadline: 2023 September 30th 
• Number of Scholarships: 5000 scholarships will be awarded this year. 
• Applicable Classes: Students from the 5th class onwards are eligible to apply. 
• Income Criteria: Families with an annual income of up to one lakh rupees are eligible. 
• Housing Criteria: Families residing in houses with less than 800 square feet of area can apply. 
• Inclusion: Even those who are not listed in the Gram Sabha list can apply. 

 

Application Process 

To apply for this Padanamuri program, interested candidates should submit their applications to the Block, Municipality, and Corporation SC Development Department offices. Detailed application forms and additional information can be obtained from these offices.
